james_nicoll wasn't wrong: the Sheriff sure likes chewing the scenery. ...And he's not the only one. Also, I'm hoping that by the end of the episode I'll figure out which female is Maid Marion and who on earth the other one is.(3)
On the plus side, it's totally better than Supernatural.(1)
In other news, I went back to work today and it didn't suck, even when They asked if I could stay on the desk "a bit longer" and didn't come back for forty minutes.
(1) Just.(2)
(2) I take that back. OMG Guy/Sheriff slash! Total craptasticness!
(3) Marion is the girl who fails to plan for her enemies to have a basic grasp of the optical sciences. Still no idea who the other one is, so I shall dub her Onawg: "Obligatory New Age Woo-woo Girl".

Date: 2008-06-10 01:27 am (UTC)Or do you mean the crap new TV one with Jonas Armstrong and lots of annoying whizzy arrow-scene changes and banal dialogue? I mean... Robin Hood with e 'Saracen' recurved bow??? No way! The only goodish thing about the new RH is Guisborne, played by the delightful Richard Armitage.
But all in all the TV companies should have saved their money and repeated the Robin of Sherwood from circa 1980 (with Michael Praed and Judi Trott. If you want a sheriff that chew the scenery brilliantly, look not further than Nicholas Grace. Alan Rickman (and the Costmer movie) definitely modelled himself on Grace. Unfortunately nothing Ciostner could do could remotely make him a model of Michael Praed, hence the TV show still rules. (OK, let's forget about Jason Connery.)

Date: 2008-06-10 06:09 pm (UTC)Have you started on season two yet? The first episode contains the immortal words 'Come on, my gang.' Ouch.
And there's going to be a thind season I believe. Double ouch.
Yes because I am always intensely interesyed in various different literary and filmic versions of the Robon Hood legend (because of a book-beginning I might decide to take further) I continue to watch it. It's a bit like picking a scab. Horrible, but compelling on a level so basic you don't want to acknowledge it.
