zeborahYesterday morning (two and a half days after I'd seen her last) Boots reappeared and hung around for me for most of the day. This was aided by me being outside hanging up washing when she turned up, and then me sitting out in the sun with her for a while, but she came inside too. And sat on my lap for a whole minute.
Didn't stay overnight of course.
She came back in the morning, and then I went to church,
[Interlude: I had to pick up my violin from my family's house for church orchestra, and accidentally left a door open. When I returned the violin, to its rightful place, a strange cat emerged and miaowed at me. Surprise Cat! It ran outside again, knowing it was trespassing, but then sprawled on the driveway and did the back-scratchy sun-bathy thing.]
and then in the afternoon I had a nap, and then she came back again hoping for food. I didn't feel like moving just yet and in fact dozed off again, and when I woke again I couldn't see her. I assumed she'd gone back out, but then I heard purring. I poked my head over the back of the bed, where my pillows always overhang a bit, and found her hiding in the same place she hid during the earthquake. (Also I found a crack between the skirting board and the wall, on the other side of which wall is an old chimney, plastered over, which plaster is now covered in hairline cracks. I think parts of my house made a very good effort at moving half a centimetre to the south-east.)
...Okay, so she wasn't exactly sleeping. I suspect if she wants to actually sleep she'll go out to her hidey-place next door. But in the meantime she's hanging around more or less comfortably.
