191 words and the discovery that in my time period the Ave Maria didn't habitually include the 'pray for us sinners' part. I disapprove of reality thus spoiling the poignancy of my character's death in chapter fourteen!
Ohh interesting, I didn't know that! ::thinks furiously about the different settings of Ave Maria she's sung, and what would have been the oldest? Can't think of any without the ending. None would have been earlier than Palestrina, anyway. Goes off to find out about Ave Maria::
ETA: finds out that the first record of "pray for us sinners" etc. is in a writing by Savonarola. (Though he's not making it up, he's commenting on it.) Also fascinating...
