Thanks Kathryn! Red Cross is probably best at this point. Over a quarter of the city has no power and more has no running water (let alone uncontaminated water); sewerage is... yeah... So we're fairly low down on Maslov's Hierarchy of Needs right now. :-)

For cultural institutions, apparently publishers are already helping out again with e-resources for University of Canterbury at least... and that's about all I know, just catching up with the luxury of internet and television at the moment so you can probably find out more than me.
